Obituary of Arnold Ernest Scott

It is with great sadness the family of Arnold Ernest (Arnie) Scott of Lakeside NB, announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday May 30th, 2018. Arnold was born in Saint John, NB to Murray and Mary (Morrow) Scott. Arnie grew up farming with his family in Hampton, NB. Arnie was the fourth of five children. He had two older sisters Pauline and Gertrude, an older brother Robbie and younger brother John. Arnie spent his childhood helping his father on the farm in Hampton, skating with his brothers and playing with his sisters. Arnie was never far from his two brothers as they grew up together. As he grew older, he served as a Reservist with the 8th Hussars. He attended Saint John Vocational School and earned a trade as a welder. Arnie met and married the love of his life, Karen, in 1967. Karen and Arnie built a loving home in Hampton, NB. Arnie and Karen brought four children home to their little house on the Bonney Road: Stephen, Tammy, Jennifer and Murray. Arnie worked as a welder at Saint John Shipbuilding beginning in November 1965 for over 35 years. Arnie was a hard worker all his life and could often be found in his beloved basement wood working shop, out in the woods near Sussex cutting hardwood or performing handyman duties around the house. Surviving are 2 sons; Stephen Scott ( Jolene) of Leduc ,AB and Murray Scott of Saint John, 2 daughters; Tammy Zigante (Alen) of Rothesay NB and Jennifer MacDonald (Owen) Hammonds Plains, NS, 2 sisters; Pauline Chisholm (Huntley) of London ON and Gertrude Cunningham (Don) of Enfield Connecticut USA. Arnie has eleven grandchildren: Madeline, Breanne, Abigail, Mila, Jack, Isabella, Ava, Cullen, Sarah, Alex and Daniel. In his quiet way he sat, smiled and watched them grow. They will miss him dearly. In 2011 Arnie was predeceased by his wife Karen, he was also predeceased by his brothers; Robert and John Scott. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. No visitation by request. A celebration of Arnie’s Life will be held Monday June 4th at 11 am from St. John’s United Church Sussex Corner. Following the service a time of fellowship will be held in the church hall. Interment will be in the Hampton Rural Cemetery. Donations in memory of Arnie may be made to the Hampton Rural Cemetery or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
