"Our lives go on without you but nothing is the same We have to hide our heartache when someone speaks your name. Sad are the hearts that loved you. Silent are the tears that fall. Living without you is the hardest part of all. You did so many things for us. Your heart was kind and true. And when we needed someone, we could always count on you. The special years will not return when we were all together But with the love in our hearts you will walk with us forever." (unknown) Shirley, a kind and gentle soul always had time for her family and friends. She would lend an ear or provide a shoulder if that was needed. She was a devoted wife, a caring Mom, special Gram (Nana) and a compassionate friend. Often the term "special lady" is used to refer to Shirley because of her huge heart, how she received everyone openly. Shirley’s poetry will live on as her family is in the process of completing her book of her works. She dictated her last poem this month, from her hospital bed. "As I could hear the birds outside the hospital window singing in unison. The pitter-patter of the rain hitting the ladder made a glorious accompaniment. As the sun rose in the east it made the sky a beautiful blue. And everybody can start a bright new day." Poem by Shirley Bradley, April 9/ 2018 Needless to say our hearts are torn open as she leaves this life to reunite with her "love", James.
