Obituary of Paul Ganong

With celebration of a life well lived, the family of Paul Ganong, age 91, announces his death which occurred on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Elmhurst, NB, on June 23, 1926, he was a son of the late Hedley and Mildred (Titus) Ganong. Paul worked as a mechanic for years at various places in Saint John, Hampton and Sussex and up into his late 80’s was still changing his own tires and doing work on his car. He owned close to 80 different cars in his life time. His passion was Ganong genealogy and he probably visited every graveyard in the Kings County area. Paul is survived by his children: Paulette Boyd and her husband Frank of Hatfield Point, NB, Ronnie Ganong and his wife Susan of Kiersteadville, NB, Cathy Morrell and her husband Fraser of Hatfield Point, NB, Bonnie Ganong and her husband Doug of Quispamsis, NB, and Tammy Duplessis and her husband Troy of Riverbank, NB; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Curtis Stanley, Keith Stanley and Ronald Stanley; sisters-in-law: Shirley Flegg, Lois Bartlett, Glenna Ronson and Shirley Stanley; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his wife Rita (Stanley) Ganong; sons: Jeff and Terry Ganong; brothers: Donald and Clarence Ganong; infant brother Roland Ganong; and son-in-law Garnie Boyd. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 3 to 8PM. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:00PM from Outreach Pentecostal Church, Hatfield Point, NB. A private family interment will take place at Bayview Cemetery in the spring. Donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Bayview Cemetery or to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
