Obituary of Pat Cole

It is with sadness that the family of Retired Corporal Patrick James Cole, age 58 announces his death which occurred on Monday, November 20, 2017 at his residence in Nauwigewauk, NB. Pat was born in Ottawa, ON, on March 17, 1959, is the husband of Bernise (Savoy) Cole and a son of the late Ronald and Claudette (Richard) Cole. Pat was first and foremost a family man. He and Bernise enjoyed regular visits to their trailer on the Tabusintac River, where there were always lots of family and friends around. He took great pride in his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren and happily shared their accomplishments with anyone who stopped in at the house in Nauwigewauk. A 35-year veteran of the RCMP, Pat was a dedicated community police officer, achieving the rank of Corporal. He spent his entire career with J Division in New Brunswick, with postings in Bathurst, Jacquet River, Saint John and Fredericton. Pat served his last 10 years with the Hampton Detachment, where he became a fixture in the community. At the time of his retirement, Pat was Acting Sergeant, in charge of the detachment. As a member of the Hampton Canada Day Committee, Pat initiated and personally organized the annual Bike Rodeo. He continued with this activity in retirement and took on additional volunteer roles, as a member of the Hampton Community Club, The Nauwigewauk Community Club and the Town of Hampton Leisure Services Advisory Committee. For the past couple of years, Pat was never far from his Chinese Crested sidekick, Mya, who would accompany him on his daily trips to Robin’s for a tea. As a true champion of the "support local" movement, Pat was extremely proud of his adopted home community and promoted the Hampton region at every opportunity. Pat is survived by his wife Bernise; daughters Jennifer Cole of Nauwigewauk, NB, Allison (Ricky) Robertson of Tabusintac, NB; grandchildren Kurtis Cole, Tyler Stewart, Lola Robertson (and Lola’s sister Gigi Robertson coming soon); great-grandchildren Kash Stewart, Karter Stewart; sisters Rhonda (George) Miles, Roxanne (Michael) Nidd, Leslie Cole (Jim); several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and his Chinese Crested sidekick, Mya.
