Obituary of Mildred Sheldrick

It is with great sadness that the family of Mildred Helena Sheldrick, age 98, announces her death which occurred on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 1, 1919 in Holderville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Vara (Lyon) Holder. In her younger years, Mildred loved to dance and always would attend many events with her husband Dennie. She was a post mistress for Clifton and surrounding areas for seventeen years. Mildred was very active with the ACW and was a part of the Altar Guild for forty years. She was also recently presented with a 70th Anniversary pin from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #62 Ladies Auxiliary of which she was a lifetime member. She enjoyed playing cards, her trip across Canada, and most of all, being around her friends and family. Mildred is survived by her son Doug Sheldrick of Quispamsis, NB; daughter Barbara McDevitt (Gerald) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Tanya Murphy (Wayne), Jane McDevitt (Paul), Sherry Mitchell (Mark), Robert McDevitt (Susan), Brian Sheldrick (Sherry), Kim Prosser (Keith), Rob Sheldrick (Kim), and Joanne Baxter (Allan); fourteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; son-in-law Brian Otis, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mildred was predeceased by her loving husband William "Dennie" Sheldrick; daughter Rita Otis; sisters Chris Marshall and Barbara Holman; brother Ronald Holder; infant twin brother Horace Holder; and daughter-in-law Katherine Sheldrick. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton where visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 2:00pm from All Saints Anglican Church, Clifton Royal, NB. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. Donations in memory of Mildred may be made to the All Saints Anglican Church, MS Society or to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
