Obituary of Irene Titus
It is with great sadness that the family of Irene B. Titus, age 86, of Hampton, NB, formerly of Summerville, NB, announces her death which occurred on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre. She was born in Saint John, NB, on February 7, 1931, wife of the late Neil B. Titus and a daughter of the late Francis and Ozelil (Goguen) Arsenault.
Irene was a generous and kind soul with an infectious smile who believed in giving back to her community. She served as President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Peninsula Branch #62 Royal Canadian Legion for many years, was a member of the United Church Women, and a member of the Peninsula Pearls. She was also a talented and avid quilter, and a fine cook willing to feed anyone who sat at her table.
Sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks is extended to all the staff at the Dr. V. A. Snow Center for the quality of care you provided to Irene for the past two years. Hardly a day went by without her saying how good you were to her.
Irene is survived by her daughters: Karen Wilson of Saint John, NB, and Gail Hines of Summerville, NB; son Paul Hines of Summerville, NB; grandchildren: Andrea (Mark) Walsh and Mallory Arseneau (Mike Tucker); great grandson William Walsh; sisters: Leona Eckstrom of ON and Florence (Charles) Bartlett of Saint John, NB; extended family Andrea Arseneau; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Irene was predeceased by her first husband William S. Hines; and brothers: Edgar, Lawrence, Alfie, Peter and Gil Arsenault.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, where visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00AM from the Summerville United Church, 1891 Route 845, Summerville, NB. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery.
