Obituary of Kendal Megarity

It is with appreciation of a life well lived that the family of Kendal Stuart Megarity, loving husband of Helen Norah (McCaughan) Megarity, announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 22, 2017. Born in Saint John, NB on July 13, 1946, he was the son of the late Stuart and Greta (MacManus) Megarity. Before retirement, Kendal devoted 36 years as a draftsman with Bell Aliant (NBTel), and over 20 years as a weekend projectionist with Famous Players and Cineplex (Empire Theatres). Kendal's passion was creating the best home environment including endless hours working outdoors. Kendal was a loving husband of 49 years, an extraordinary father to three boys, an amazing grandfather to three grandchildren, and a helping hand to anyone in need. In addition to his wife Helen, Kendal is survived by his children Stephen (Angela), Mark (Minh), and David (Dawn); grandchildren Jenna, Ross and Trevor; brothers-in-law Bill McCaughan (Lynne), Burt McCaughan (Christa), Pat McCaughan (Lois), and Wally Mudd; sisters-in-law Audrey Breen, Lydia Luce, Mary-Lou Nason, and Peggy McCaughan; nephew Derek Van Nieuw Amerongen; niece Leigh Ann Allen, and Wendy Achorn; cousin Janette Linkletter. A special mention to close family and friends Beth, Steve, Mike and Megan Estey, Michelle and Jozie McCaughan, Chuck Breen (Michelle), Stacey, Shawn, and Kayla McCaughan, Patty Breen (Jacqueline), Debbie and Nicole McCaughan, Wendi Gosson, Karen McLaughlin Carvell, Gilbert and Jeanette McKinnon, Dale Forrest (Amanda), Dave Greer, Louis Doucet, and many more cherished relatives and friends. Kendal will be greatly missed by his cats Misty and Furball. Kendal is predeceased by his sister Ann (Van Nieuw Amerongen) Mudd; brothers-in-law Charlie Breen, and David McCaughan (Joanne). Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home, 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB (506-832-5541). At Kendal's request, no funeral will be held. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. including prayers with The Rev. Canon David Barrett beginning at 4:00 p.m. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Kendal may be made to Autism Society of New Brunswick.
