He was born in Cropton England, July 22, 1925 to the late Isaac and Helen Gray. The family immigrated to Canada when David was 5 years of age. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943 to 1945. He met the love of his life, Phyllis Marie (nee Stone) in 1946. They married on September 18, 1948 and raised 4 children. David was predeceased by his wife (2002), his parents, brothers Peter and Gerald, and sisters Marion and Pauline. He is survived by his daughters Patricia Stevens of Magaguadavic Lake and Sharon Bruhm (Clayton) of Pleasantville, NS; sons Brian (Kathy) of Riverview and Gordon (Lynn) of Quispamsis; grandchildren Mark, Shawnee, Matthew, and Michael Stevens, Trevor Bruhm, David Gray, Kari O’Neill and Kelly Roth; step grandchildren Andrew and Grant Patterson; and great grandchildren Mallory and Nolan Stevens, Dante Bruhm, Wyatt Gray, Ethan O’Neill, and Hudson Roth; sister-in-law Elsie Gray; and several nieces and nephews. David worked as a licensed mechanic, and later became the Assistant Manager of Canadian Tire in Moncton. Upon David’s calling to serve his Lord, he graduated from Medley Hall, Diocese of Fredericton. He became a Deacon in 1964 and a Priest in 1966. David’s unique skill set was instrumental in rebuilding parishes both spiritually and financially. During his ministry David served the following parishes: St Martins, Petitcodiac, Grand Manan, and St. James and St. Jude’s in Saint John. He was an active member of the communities in which he served; a long- time member of the St Martins Lodge No 30 F. & A.M; involved in Inter-Denominational Christian Fellowship. He helped establish the St Martins Fire Department and served as the first volunteer fire chief. In his retirement years, David and Phyllis were active members with the Keenager’s Seniors Group in Kingston, NB. David was a loving husband and father who loved to help his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbours, friends, and those in need. David’s family appreciated his guidance and admired his far-reaching generosity. David’s family extends a special thank you to all the staff at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing for the excellent care and compassion he received during his stay.
