Kenneth "Ken" Markham Ogden, cherished husband, father, grandfather and brother, died on August 3, 2017, at the Saint John Regional Hospital in the arms of his loving family. Born on April 11, 1942 to the late Huey and Opal (Hachey) Ogden, Ken was a gifted artist, musician and writer. Always eager to learn and create, as a teenager Ken played many instruments and was a member of several bands, including Saint John’s own Beetles. With his creative mind and quick wit, Ken spent more than 40 years working as a producer at CHSJ Radio and Television. He excelled in the production industry and directed several award-winning commercials – but more than anything Ken enjoyed the lifelong friendships he made with his co-workers at the station. Ken was a resourceful carpenter and avid gardener at the Hampton, NB home he built from the ground up and shared with his beloved wife of 52 years Theresa Ogden. There, they raised two children, Jason Ogden and Keely Cosman, and hosted countless gatherings with family and friends. Ken took immense pride in his children – and later, his grandchildren – and never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments. His family brought him true joy and was his greatest passion. A man with a gentle heart and boundless curiosity, Ken never missed the evening news and loved to discuss local happenings and Saint John history. An accomplished cook and master card player, Ken loved living life to the fullest and inspired those around him to do the same. He found joy in simple pleasures and woke up every morning looking at the bright side of life. Ken – better known as Dad, Grampy or Kenny – will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Theresa Ogden; son Jason Ogden and his wife Candice MacLean of Saint John, NB; daughter Keely Cosman and her husband Roger Cosman of Saint John, NB; grandchildren Dillon, Dakota, Dallas and Colby Cosman; sisters Shirley Crabbe of Saint John, NB, Marjorie Mawhinney of Maces Bay, NB, and Maureen Kyle of Saint John, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by his brother Raymond. Arrangements will be held privately.
