Obituary of Gwen Monahan
With heavy hearts and profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Gwendolyn "Gwen" Kathleen (Pugsley) Monahan, age 85, of Lower Norton, NB, which occurred on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at her home. Just days ago celebrating her recent 85th birthday, she was thrilled to see so many family and friends. Mom's love for her family was unconditional and everlasting, we will treasure all the wonderful memories and her laughter will live forever in our hearts. Born in Central Cambridge, NB, on March 2, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Bessie (Rees) Pugsley.
Gwen is survived by her children: Barbra Norton (Gordon) of Moncton, NB, Rodney Monahan (Jo-anne) of Smithtown, NB, Diane Carson (Barry) of Hampton, NB, Heather Hartlen(Tony) of Hampton, NB, and daughter in-law Carol Monahan of Lower Norton, NB; grandchildren: James Monahan, Tina Monahan-McGraw, Jennifer Norton-Williams, Mark Norton, Andrew Carson, Jason Carson, Lisa Carson-Joudrey, Courtney Monahan, Nathan Monahan, Ariel O’Neill, Ashley Chamberlain, Kelsey Hartlen, Connor Williams, Lauren Williams, Bobby McGraw, Johnathan McGraw, Paityn Chamberlain, Landon Chamberlain, Emily Joudrey, Grace O’Neill, Addyson O’Neill and Jackson O’Neillas well as several step-grandchildren; sister in-law Lillian Pugsley of Lower Cambridge, NB; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Gwen was predeceased by her loving husband Mark Bernard; son Stephen Monahan; brothers: Hazen, Walter and Clair Pugsley; and sisters: Nellie Thorne, Doris Coleman, Edna MacDonald, Marion Thorne and Evelyn Black.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM from Reid’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 2:00PM from St Paul's Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kent Burdett presiding. Interment will take place in Hampton Rural Cemetery.
