Obituary of Jean McKee

With sadness and celebration of a life well lived, the family of Jean Annette McKee, age 89, of Hampton, NB, announces her death which occurred on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on October 11, 1927, Jean was one of ten children born to the late Daniel Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Barker) Pitts. Jean married William "Bill" Ronald McKee and lived for many years in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon Bill’s retirement, they moved to Hampton where they lived for the last 30 years. An active member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hampton, NB, she practiced her very strong faith for many years. She was foremost a home maker who loved her family, her home, her neighbours and the joy of her extensive gardens. She enjoyed her backyard and gardens, including the deer that every year ate her cedar bushes. Jean was a very bright, capable individual who loved life. She loved her children all so much and showed it every day; it is truly hard to say goodbye. Jean is survived by her daughter Louise McKee of Hampton, NB; son Bill McKee and his wife Debbie Hanley McKee of Fall River, NS; sisters-in-law Theresa Pitts and Gisele Pitts; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Jean was predeceased by her brothers: Arthur, Wilfred, Daniel. Walter and James Pitts; sisters: Louise Durant, Lorraine Oshoy, Madeline Banzy and Bernadette Murphy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM from Reid’s Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00AM from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Father Dan Bastarashe presiding. Interment will take place in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at the Emergency Ward at the Saint John Regional Hospital, your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.
