It is with sadness that the family of John Fraser Kilpatrick, age 73 announces his death which occurred on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. John was born in Saint John, NB on January 3, 1944, is the husband of Carol (Urquhart) Kilpatrick and a son of the late Theodore and Helen (Fraser) Kilpatrick. John is survived by his wife Carol of over 50 years; daughter Sandra (Glenn) Miller of Barnesville, NB; son Luke (Roberta) Kilpatrick of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren Travis, Madeline, Lauren, Molly, Ryan, Mya; siblings Eleanor Hopper, Lorne "Brown" (Barb) Kilpatrick, Warren "Dork" (Elaine) Kilpatrick, Eddie "Skinny" (Doreen) Kilpatrick, Dee Dee Carreau (Paul Garnett), Carol Fox (Billy Allaby), Larry "Joe" (Eloise) Kilpatrick, Steve "Crow" (Georgie) Kilpatrick, Bruce Kilpatrick (Karen Totton), Brian (Ruth) Kilpatrick; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, John is also predeceased by his infant brother Dale. Dad began his career as a nursing orderly in 1963 then soon after joined the Saint John Police Force in 1967 and enjoy a fulfilling career as an officer. Dad eventually became a detective and retired in 1998 with 31 years of service. During his 19 years of retirement he loved being with his family especially Sunday dinners. He enjoyed his time at the Silver Hill hunting camp with his brothers, chosen brothers and most recently loved watching the younger generation continue the tradition. Some other passions were four wheeling, snowmobiling, trailering, fiddling with the Happy Go Lucky Fiddlers and Wednesdays at the Sussex auction. He loved playing 45’s, along with "seniors activities" at the Upham WI hall. Dad was an active community volunteer serving many breakfasts and suppers to his friends and neighbors. Yesterday we lost our dad, our rock and biggest fan and mom lost her handsome John, the love of her life for over 50 years. He was huge, fierce and invincible. He was larger than life, tougher than nails and stubborn as a mule with a heart bigger than the whole world. John Fraser Kilpatrick has gone but he will never be forgotten. He will live on our hearts for eternity. JFK has signed off duty. He is resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB with visitation on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 PM.
