Obituary of Ronald Lingley

It is with sadness that the family of Ronald William Lingley, age 92, announces his death which occurred on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, NB. Born on March 23, 1925 in England, he was a son of the late Frederick and Gladys (Hooper) Lingley. Ron and his family came to Canada shortly after he was born and settled on the Kingston Peninsula, there Ron met Martha, his wife of 59 Years. Ron worked many years for the department of transportation as an equipment operator. He was a decorated veteran of WWII, serving his country in the North Shore Regiment. Ron is survived by his loving wife Martha (Greer) Lingley; daughter Fran Cooke and her husband Hazen of Smithtown, NB; sons Ronald Lingley and his wife Brenda of Kingston Peninsula, NB, Brent Lingley and his wife Jeannette of Cobden, ON, Barry Lingley and his wife Bernice of Darlings Island, NB, and Ross Lingley and his wife Natalie of Powasson, ON; sister Doris Daley of Hampton, NB; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his infant daughter; and brothers Fred (Ella) and Jack Lingley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton where visitation will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, with a legion tribute service at 5:45 PM by Peninsula Branch #62. The funeral service will take place on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM from Reid’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at All Saints Cemetery, Clifton Royal, NB. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff and clergy at the Ridgewood Veteran Victory Lane for their excellent care and compassion given to Ron while he resided there.
