Obituary of Blair Wetmore
After a short and courageous battle with cancer, the family announces the death of Blair Delano Wetmore of Saint John, NB which occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on March 12, 1947 in Saint John, NB, a son of the late Hughson and Agnes (Owens) Wetmore.
He was a loving husband of 34 years to Marie (Doucette) Wetmore, an amazing father to Brad (Janet) Wetmore of Calgary, AB, Lesley Hooper (Jake Bastarache) of Saint John, NB and Lindsay (Brad) Irvine of Quispamsis, NB. He was Grampy to seven grandchildren: Riley, Jenna, William, Isabella and Matthew of Saint John and Kaitlyn and Carter of Calgary. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Ella Doucette; brothers Fred (Irene) Wetmore of Cody’s, NB, Hugh "Evans" (Francis) Wetmore of Yellowknife NWT; sister Lou (George) Fitzgerald of Quispamsis, NB; brothers-in-law Carl (Linda) Doucette, Eric (Kathi) Doucette, Don Doucette (Gary Joubert); sisters-in-law Marilyn Doucette, Joanne (Bill) Conway, Pat Doucette, Shirley (Eric) Spears and Lisa (John) Richard; as well as many nieces, nephews who all loved him dearly, a large circle of close friends who will miss him dearly and his three granddogs Luna, Harris and Monty.
Blair founded the stationery department at Lingley Printing & Stationery and ran it for many years meeting countless people through his travel and work as a salesman. His after retirement job was with Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a shuttle driver where he enjoyed working with his son in law Brad and always entertained his passengers with his jokes and stories.
Blair was a long-time member of the Simonds Lion’s Club. He held many different positions with the club and won many awards including the Melvin Jones Award. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation for several terms as well. His favorite position in all of his volunteer work was that of caterer. He loved to cook for others whether it was for 20 or 200! You never came to his house without being offered food or drink no matter the time of day!
He also spent many hours volunteering with Marie’s organization of choice Girl Guides of Canada. He was their Mr. Fix-It, grass mower and general handyman. He also fed many, many Guiders some wonderful meals.
There will be a Celebration of Blair’s life on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 1 to 4 pm at the Guide House, 55 Rothesay Ave, Saint John.

Memorials in memory of Blair may be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, Girl Guides of Canada- Camp Chacik or to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
