My sincere condolences at this very difficult time. I am sorry for your great loss. I will always remember her best, as I knew her when I was very young. She had a profound effect on me; I was so privileged to have her as my grade 2 teacher. She taught us to be proud of ourselves and our work, through her example and her positive comments. She taught us good nutrition and the value & beauty of plants. She liked doing things, believed in common sense, and was always kind. She lifted us up, with her energy, curiosity, interest in us, and hugs. A wonderful person, who towered in strength-of-spirit and caring for others.

I was very sorry to hear about Clara. She was a special teacher who taught three of our children and what a wonderful year each of them had. I enjoyed working with Clara in the greenhouse at school; she taught the students how to transplant, patting down the soil and saying "Happy home!" to each new plant. I carried that tradition on after Clare retired. I am presently in Toronto with Janet who joins me in sending sympathy to all of the family. Janet remembers when she was in Grade 2 that Clare was always trying to get her and Jayne Anderson to write larger so she could read their work. Janet remarked,, "she was a lovely teacher."

She raised five children, was a wonderful teacher and managed to garden, preserve mountains of food, sew, crochet, knit and cook wonderful meals.
