It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Charles O’Blenis, age 66, of Nauwigewauk, NB, announces his death which occurred on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at his home following a brief battle with cancer. Born on April 16, 1950 in Petitcodiac, NB, he was the son of the late Roy and Marion (Archibald) O’Blenis. Michael worked in Operations & Management for Irving Oil for 47 years, until his retirement in April of 2016. He was a dedicated employee who enjoyed his job and co-workers. Michael will always be remembered for his sense of humor, always a big smile, and passing on a joke. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Margaret "Margie" O’Blenis; sister Dana Moffatt and her husband James of Ottawa, ON; sisters-in-law: Debra Stewart and her husband Stephen and Eleanor Cobbett and her husband Frank; as well as several nieces and nephews. Michael will also be missed by his "extended family" at the Seaside Tent & Trailer park in St. Martins, where he summered for 19 years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5 to 9 PM at the Hammond River Angling Association, 10 Porter Road, Hammond River. Please join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation towards Dr. J. Douglas Hall and his staff, and to everyone at the Extra Mural.
