Lloyd met a young gal, Ada at the Erb’s Cove Baptist Church. They went together three or four years and then got married on New Year’s Day of 1947 at the Gondola Point Parsonage. This coming New Year’s day they would have been married for 70 years.
Lloyd was a farmer all his life, and worked long, hard hours. He worked from sun up, to after sun down every day of his life. He milked cows, sold cream, had big vegetable gardens, and later raised beef cattle. In his younger years he worked in the woods with Jack Earle, George Piers, and his brother George. He also worked at the Saint John port, and two winters at the dry dock. He also worked as a carpenter. He worked for several years for Fowler Brothers. They worked in many different locations building beautiful homes, post offices, and barns, he was the head carpenter for the construction on Mae, Gordon and Eileen’s homes. He did these jobs all while running the farm.
You couldn’t take the farm away from him, even when he was in the hospital. He would often ask if they remembered to close the barn door, and if the hay was dry. He enjoyed having family around and knowing what they were all doing. He will be missed by all.
