Obituary of Sharon Floyd
After a long battle with breast cancer, Sharon Carrolle (Gamble) Floyd, age 63, passed away peacefully and went to be with her personal Saviour on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on August 4, 1953 in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of Margaret "Peggy" (Morrow) Gamble and the late Arthur "Art" Gamble.
Sharon was a beautiful woman whose life was evident of humility and strong faith. She was strong and courageous and always put others first. Sharon received her vocal and piano training through the Royal Conservatory of Music. She taught music with the local school board and has impacted many students' lives as a private piano and voice teacher for over 30 years. Sharon spent many years of dedication playing piano and organ in the church and spent the last 10+ years as choir director and pianist at St. Martins Baptist Church.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband Francis Floyd of 33 years; children: Jason (Tammy) Garnett of St. Martins, NB, Sheena Weston of St. Martins, NB, Jennifer (David) Floyd-Hartt of Saint John, NB, Sarah Garnett of St. Martins, NB, and Jared (Mindy) Floyd of Saint John, NB; grandchildren: Josh, Jarrett, Drew, Michael, Layla and Myla; mother Peggy Gamble; mother-in-law Irma Floyd; brother Stanley (Brenda) of St. Martins, NB; sister Kathy (Les) Clarke of BC; as well as several aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and her special K-9 friend Mylie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2 to 8PM from St. Martins Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 2:00PM from St. Martins Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Les Clarke and assisted by Rev. John Martin. Interment will be held at St. Martins Community Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the friends and church family who were there for Sharon during these hard times and special mention to Marcia and Charles Floyd, Melissa Clarke MacDonald (Nolan), Marilyn Rankin and family, Kyla Weston and family and Debbie Jones. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Extra Mural and Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care 3B North for their wonderful care during this difficult time.
