Such a genuinely kind man. He loved his family. I will miss Gary's visits and watching Guptill talk on Gary's cell phone to other family members while roaming the halls of Ridgewood. Ridgewood was lucky to have had Guptill in our midst. God Bless.

Sue and family - I am so sorry for your loss. I know how close you and the family were to your Dad. Your parents raised such amazing children and in turn you and Grant did the same. John and Judy Carlisle posted a condolence
Our sympathy to you all. We grew up in Upper Sackville, John on Pond Shore and Judy on Church, so knew the family since we were children. For 30 years we have lived in the former Thompson house opposite the "Hedley Hicks house", which if not for Guptill's great assistance would have burned during a fire in 1965. Only one fire truck was allowed to leave Sackville town limits for an out of town fire, and it was losing the battle in fighting a barn fire on the property. Guptill took a ton truck with two large tanks and a gasoline pump to Silver Lake where he repeatedly filled the tanks, drove to the site of the fire, and kept replenishing the pumper truck. If not for him, the house and all of the barns and outbuildings would have burned. Earlier that year, Judy's father died, and she remembers Marjorie's great kindness to her mother, including organizing the large lunch for the funeral. Two examples of the kindness of neighbours which have not been forgotten. With our condolences, John & Judy (Brooks) Carlisle

We have many fond memories of Guptill and Marjorie through our Perfect Circle RV Chapter. We did a lot of travelling together in our RV's and also enjoyed spending a week-end now and then at Hick's Beach, where we were made to feel very welcome. Guptill was a very thoughtful and caring man, and we were fortunate to have him as a friend. Margie & Larry

My deepest sympathy to all of the family. Recently I got to meet Guptill after I received a phone call at work telling me that he had lost his eyeglasses. On 2 occassions I visited him at Ridgewood to fit him with new glasses. They were great visits and we had a wonderful time as he told me about the old days, his father's construction business and his own work with the RCMP. It was a great pleasure to have met him. One I will never forget. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all. Mary Jean Anthony
