Obituary of Ethel Nelson

It is with sadness that the family of Ethel Florence (Thomson) Nelson, of Hampton, NB, wife of the late William G. H. Nelson announces her death which occurred on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born on October 13, 1928, in Saint John, NB, a daughter of the late Edward and Bessie (McCavour) Thomson. Ethel was the last surviving member of her family. Ethel was a member and past deacon of Kiersteadville United Baptist Church, a dominion life member of the Women’s Missionary Society and a life member of the Women’s Institute (Kiersteadville-Long Point). She enjoyed travelling, knitting and making quilts. Her greatest love was her family. Ethel is survived by her sons Randall and Susan Nelson of Hampton and Stephen and Susan Nelson of Quispamsis; daughter Ruth and Ronald Gillis of Hampton; grandchildren: Christina (Adam Proudfoot), Jonathan (Ashlee Rogerson), Melissa (Ryan Woodward), Jennifer, Timothy (Tiffany Carlson) and Jana; four precious great grandsons: Logan, Cameron, Reid and Bennett; as well as one niece and several nephews. Besides her loving husband and parents, Ethel was predeceased by her son Philip and his wife Noella; brother Charles; and sisters Mabelle, Mary and Estella. She is resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, with visiting on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. Dan Austin, will be held from Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 pm, on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. A private interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Ethel, may be made to the memorial of donor’s choice.
