Obituary of Pauline Laidlaw
It is with sadness the family of Pauline Margaret Laidlaw of Saint John, NB, announces her passing, which occurred on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, NB. Born in 1921, Pauline was the wife of the late Donald Laidlaw and daughter of the late J. Firth and Margaret (Lord) Brittain.
Pauline spent her early years in West Saint John enjoying her summers at her family cottage in Grand Bay. Following graduation from Saint John High School in 1938 and later Saint John Vocational School she enlisted in the RCAF and served in London from 1943 – 1945.When she returned to Canada she married Donald Laidlaw in 1947 and made her home in West Saint John and in 1957 moved to Hampton.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother in addition to being a dear and cherished friend to many.
Pauline is survived by her children, Carol Laidlaw of Saint John, James Laidlaw (Kathy) of Wellington, Florida, Jean Laidlaw of Rothesay, and John Laidlaw (Sharon) of Rothesay and grandchildren, Craig Laidlaw, Deanna Forsythe, Brian Laidlaw, Eric Laidlaw, Olivia Laidlaw and Adrienne Laidlaw, three great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother Miller Brittain and sister Joan Hamilton.
She is resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB with visitation on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from to 4 to 8 PM. At Pauline’s request a private family service will take place.
