Obituary of Brenda Urquhart-Teed

It is with profound sadness that the family of Brenda Lee Urquhart-Teed announces her passing on August 31, 2026. Brenda was born in Sussex, New Brunswick, on January 23, 1959, the youngest daughter of the late Earle and Helena (Earle) Urquhart of Kars, NB.

In 1981, Brenda graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Psychology. On July 4th of that same year, she married her true love and best friend, Christopher Teed.

Brenda followed her husband, a member of the RCMP, to British Columbia, embarking on a great adventure across the country. She worked as a manager at McDonald's in Trail, B.C., before dedicating herself fully to her family. Together, Brenda and Christopher were blessed with three sons: Gregory, Elliott, and Harrison. Brenda loved her boys unconditionally, affectionately nicknaming them “1st born,” “Middle,” and “Baby Boy.” Her nurturing spirit and immense heart also extended to her three beloved dogs—Muffin, Cassie, and Buttercup—whom she adored and treated like her own children.

Known back home as the “B.C. Teeds,” the family never let distance keep them apart. Every summer for nine years, Brenda packed up the family and Muffin, hitched the trailer, and set out on legendary cross-continental drives through Canada and the United States to New Brunswick. Affectionately dubbing themselves “the Griswolds,” these ambitious road trips were filled with endless sights, hilarious misadventures, and treasured memories built entirely around her love for her family.

Over the years, Brenda and Chris built a rich life across Canada—living in British Columbia, Ontario, Newfoundland & Labrador, and New Brunswick—blessed by dear friends, extended family, and stand-in grandparents along the way. A proud Canadian through and through, Brenda found deep peace in the beauty of the country, especially at her happy place on Belleisle Bay. Gardening was truly her church, and she spent countless joyful days tending to her vibrant flowers and vegetables, or crafting and knitting heartfelt gifts for those she held dear.

Above all, Brenda's world revolved around her family, creating a lifetime of cherished traditions and stories. Deeply devoted in marriage and motherhood, she adored her children and grandchildren beyond measure, celebrating every moment together and spoiling them with their favourite meals and desserts.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Christopher Teed of Valley Road, NB; her children: Gregory Teed (Daniela) of Calgary, AB, Elliott Teed (Janice) of St. Stephen, NB and Harrison Teed (Kate Sloan) of Beaver Banks, NS; grandchildren: Oliver, William, Claire,(and their mother, Anna Teed), Benjamin, Christopher, Nicholas, Wesley, Liam and Zach; brothers: Gordon Urquhart (Rena) of Kars, NB, John Urquhart (Sharon) of Kars, NB, William Urquhart (Trudy) of Kars, and Blair Urquhart (Joan) of Kars, NB; sisters: Joan Cookson (John) of Kars, NB and Betty Cameron (Hazen) of Gagetown, NB; brothers-in-law: Peter Teed of Saint John, NB, Terry Teed (Karen) of Moncton, NB, David Teed (Julia) of Saint John, NB, and Doug Cameron of Lower Gagetown, NB; sister-in-law Diane Urquhart of Gagetown, NB, as well as many, many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her brother Willard Urquhart, sister Eileen Cameron, sister-in-law Catherine Hurley and brother-in-law Robert Teed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm on Friday, September 4, 2026. A private family interment will take place at Orange Cemetery in Kars, NB at a later time.
