Obituary of Michelle Cummings
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary-Lynn Michelle Cummings announces her passing, which occurred peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by family, love, and light.
Born in Fredericton, NB, on July 7, 1972, she was the daughter of the late David and Marilyn (Ganong) Nice.
Michelle will be remembered for her deep love of the great outdoors, her family, her beloved cats, and her quick, unfiltered wit that brought warmth, laughter, and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a vibrant spirit and a way of making people feel welcome and at home. You could often find her out on an adventure, right alongside her identical twin, Natacha. The two were completely inseparable throughout their lives, sharing a bond that was truly one of a kind.
Michelle’s greatest gift and joy was her son, Ben. She was immensely proud of his accomplishments and truly beamed with pride over the man he had become. Her home was often the gathering place for Ben and his friends, where she welcomed everyone with open arms, plenty of snacks, laughter, and, of course, a good joke. With her generous heart and fun-loving personality, Michelle became a second mother to many, including her nieces and nephews, with whom she shared special and cherished bonds. Above all, she was a fiercely devoted mother whose love for her son knew no bounds.
Michelle’s vibrant spirit and loving memory will live on through her son, Benjamin Cummings of Grande Prairie, AB; the father of her son, Brad Cummings; brother, Jonathan Nice of Saint John, NB; twin sister, Natacha (Nice) Skinner of Hampton, NB; nieces, Jaisy Skinner (Rob Barnett) and Jillian Nice (Connor Bent); nephew, Jordan Skinner; great-nephew, Oliver Barnett; sister-in-law, Candace Nice; her late brother-in-law, Martin Skinner; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
Michelle leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with adventure, laughter, love, and the unmistakable mark she made on the lives of so many. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff who provided Michelle with such compassionate care and support.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. A private interment will take place at a later date.
