Obituary of Garnet Tingley
It is with sadness that the family of Garnet Leonard Tingley announce his passing which occurred on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Port Elgin, NB on January 15, 1952, he was the son of Dorothy (Crossman) Tingley and the late Clifton Tingley.
Garnet will be remembered as a devoted family man and a loyal friend whose greatest joy was the people he loved. Family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Known for his wonderful sense of humour, Garnet had a gift for making others laugh and bringing smiles to those around him. His kindness, warmth, and ability to brighten any room will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Garnet is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Wendy (Tingley) Tingley; daughter Tanya (Richard) Deambrose of Hampton, NB; son-in-law Luke Mercer of Bloomfield, NB; grandchildren: Dylan Deambrose, Alexis Deambrose, Skylar Deambrose, Jacob Mercer, Jackson Mercer; brothers; Oscar (Louise) Tingley of Moncton, NB, Don (Nancy) Beaumont of Oakville, ON, sister-in-law Nancy Tingley and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, Garnet is also predeceased by his daughter Amanda Mercer and brother Chester Tingley.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from noon to 2pm with a Celebration of Life starting at 2pm.
