Obituary of Jody McNamara
They may never know it, but both the Toronto Blue Jays and the Canadian band Doc Walker have each lost their biggest fan this week. It is with great sadness that the family of Jody Lynn McNamara announce that she passed peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born February 1, 1972, in Toronto, Ontario, Jody was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (MacDonald) McNamara.
With an early career as an LPN, EMT and a skilled phlebotomist with the Saint John Regional Hospital IV team, Jody lived her life simply, surrounded by the comforts and memories in her beloved Hampton family home, her furry feline companion Bella and newest addition, Nugget, never far from her side. Her love of watching the Toronto Blue Jays play and her passion for the music of her favorite band, Doc Walker only surpassed by her love and loyalty to her family. She treasured time with family and friends, spent many hours on various arts and crafts and held a special place in her heart for the horses and memories of the family farm back in Cape Breton.
Although arguably one of the most stubborn people on the planet, those who knew Jody will remember her for that strong spirit, her love of laughter and music, and the way she cherished the people and places closest to her heart. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the songs played, and the love she had for others. In celebrating Jody’s life, her family invites all who knew and loved her to remember the happy moments and the many simple joys that meant so much to her.
Jody will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her brother Bradley McNamara (Amanda Etheredge) of Richmond, Virginia; niece Taylor McNamara of Nashville, Tennessee; nephew Cameron McNamara of Richmond, Viginia; and many friends and extended family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB from where visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 12 to 2pm. Donations in the memory of Jody may be made to the Hampton Food Basket, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and memorial donations may be made through ReidsFH.com.
