Obituary of Roma Scott

It is with great sadness that the family of Roma Scott announce her passing which occurred on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Shannex – Embassy Hall, Quispamsis, NB. Born in Reed’s Point, NB on July 9, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Lorne and Doris (Hall) Waddell.

Roma was truly the heart of her family and community. So many people lovingly referred to the corner where she lived as “Roma’s Corner,” and the beach behind her home became known to generations of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends as “Roma’s Beach” — a place filled with laughter, memories, and endless summer days.

Roma’s door was always open, and no one ever stopped by without being welcomed with warmth, conversation, and a table full of food. She was especially known for her homemade pies, which were made with the same love and care she gave to everyone around her. She took great pride in keeping her home and property beautiful and had a deep love for spending time outdoors.

Roma had a joyful spirit and a laugh that could light up a room. If music was playing, she would often be the first one up dancing, bringing smiles to everyone around her. She loved being silly, making people laugh, and creating special moments with those she loved most. Her caring heart, loving nature, and the memories she created with family and friends will be cherished forever.

Roma is survived by her daughter Debbie Jones (Bob) of Kingston, NB; grandchildren: William Jones, Shawn Jones (Jenny) and Lacey Jones; great grandchildren: Finn and Charlotte Jones; brother Donald Waddell (Doreen) of Kingston, NB; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents, Roma was predeceased by her husband Fred Scott; brother Charles Waddell; sister-in-law Maria Waddell, and longtime friend Jimmy Renshaw.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. The funeral service will be held at the Trinity Anglican Church on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 2:00PM. Interment will take place at Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Kingston, NB. A reception will follow the interment at the Kingston Parish Hall, and all are welcome to attend.
