Obituary of Chester McMackin

It is with great sadness that the family of Chester Blair McMackin announce his passing which occurred on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Sussex Health Centre, Sussex, NB. Born in Fawcett Hill, NB on January 15, 1933, he was the son of the late William and Nellie (O'Blenis) McMackin.

Chester will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Sarah (Shane) Price, Andrew (Jonelle) Sturgeon, Racare (Dennis) McMackin, Jessica (Jeremy) Duncan; great grandchildren: Sylvia, Sophia, Sadie, Sam, Ashlyn, Kaitlyn and daughter-in-law Holly; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Chester was predeceased by his loving wife Esther McMackin (Briggs), son Michael McMackin, daughter Anne McMackin, and daughter-in-law Carolyn.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 17, 2026, from Reid’s Funeral Home chapel. A private interment will follow at Hampton Rural Cemetery. Following the burial, the family invite you to join them back at the funeral home for the reception.
