Obituary of Terry Tait

It is with broken hearts that the family of Terrance Nathaniel Tait announce his passing, which occurred on April 8, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John on April 13, 2002, he was the precious son of Shawn Tait and the late Brenda Hachey.

Terry was a remarkable soul who loved to draw, play any instrument he could get his hands on, and sing. When he wasn’t doing any of those things, he could be found happily playing with his dog, Chewy, or his cat, Zelda.

You might see him with his two favorite people in the world; His Uncle Dennis or Jason Tays. Often times he would be found with one of them at places like KFC for his Popcorn Chicken, or Berc's for his Onion Rings and Chocolate Milk.

He cherished his time at Vocational Training and enjoyed going out with his support workers. Swimming was his favorite activity—he was often told he was like a fish living out of water. Every summer, he could be found in his pool, laughing and swimming with pure joy

Terry will be deeply missed by his father, Shawn Tait (Angela Spellman) and sister Kayla Hachey; grandparents Donna and Travis Goddard; aunts & uncles: Sheryl Allen, Jim and Wanda Hachey, Melanie and Dennis Hawthorne, Tiffany Davis, Angel Petley (Marvin) and Joseph Beauregard; his cousins: Nick, Calvin, Adrian, Christina, Stephanie, Spencer, Jamie-Leigh, Courtney, Brooke, Damien, Brogan, Isaak and Azareth; along with so many extended family and friends.

In addition to his mother Brenda, Terry was predeceased by his grandparents: Donna Hachey, Henry Hachey and Bruce Tait; his aunt, Mae Armstrong and uncle, Mike Basque.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. A private interment will take place at a later date.

Donations in memory of Terry may be made to the IWK Foundation, Vocational Training Centre (VTC), or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and memorial donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
