Obituary of Barbara Ann Guillemette
It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Guillemette announce her passing which occurred on Monday, March 9, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, NB on July 24, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Dororthy Mortimer.
Barb was a kind-hearted and caring soul whose life was filled with simple joys and deep compassion for others. She loved spending time with her friends, watching hockey, bus tours, and knitting. She loved buying fuzzy sweaters, leggings, glasses and lobster rolls - and always cheered for the Habs! For many years she devoted herself to caring for others through her work in caregiving, always offering comfort, warmth, and support to those who needed it most. Barb also had a special talent in the kitchen and was well known for her baking—especially the rolls and bread she lovingly made for Bates, which many came to look forward to. Her love for animals was unmistakable, particularly for cats and the hummingbirds she delighted in watching. Barb’s generous spirit and gentle nature touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed each and every day.
Barb is survived by her children: Nicole Guillemette (Josh Howe) of Kingston, NB, and son Matthew Guillemette of Kingston, ON; brother Robert “Bob” Mortimer (Stephanie) of Saint John, NB; her two best friends: Judy Bond and Colleen Devarenne who were always there for her; special nieces Tina Mortimer and Angela Mortimer; as well as many extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Barb was predeceased by her husband, Henri Guillemette; and half-sister Carla Leblanc.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barb’s brother Bob and his girlfriend Stephanie for giving so much care and compassion towards Barb over the past months. Thank you for all the time, snacks and crosswords – it meant the world to Mom.
