Obituary of Sharon (Bovaird) Fiander

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sharon Bernadette (Bovaird) Fiander announce her peaceful passing which occurred on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Bobby’s Hospice Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, NB on February 20, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Daniel “Walker” and Elsie (Johnston) Bovaird.

Sharon was the oldest of ten, and grew up in Hampton, N.B. on the street named after her family: Bovaird Street.  Sharon was from a large family and proud of it.  She would always reminisce about their big family dinners and say that was why she always ate so fast, because there wouldn't be any dessert left. Sharon graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital for radiology in 1966.

She moved to St. Stephen to pursue her career at the Charlotte County Hospital where she proudly worked for 33 years. Sharon raised her 4 children in St. Stephen; they were her pride and joy.  For Sharon, being everyone's Nanny was her greatest achievement. She invented being fashionably late, a trait that has been passed down for generations.  Sharon was a fantastic cook, who always used lots of butter.  Everyone always looked forward to meals at her house.  Sharon loved watching the Blue Jays, doing her crossword puzzles and rocking out to her favorite performer: Elvis Presley.

Sharon gave everything and asked for nothing in return. She was truly a selfless person.  She always had to make sure everyone had a full belly, and a comfy place to sleep.  Sharon had a special bond with her son, Adam.  They were like partners in crime, and they always had each other's back.  He was really her person, and towards the end, her caregiver.  Sharon always wanted to be home, and Adam made that possible.

Many thanks to the staff at Bobby's Hospice for taking care of Sharon during her final journey.

Sharon is survived by her children: Tami Bovaird of Fredericton, NB, Tara McGaw (Bob) of Red Deer, AB, Andrea Fiander (Scott) of Bloomfield, NB and Adam Fiander of Grand Bay Westfield, NB; grandchildren: Shannon Scott (Greg), Brendan Scott (Madilyn), Lauren Coulter (Darian), Dylan McGaw, Taylor Fiander (Forrest) and Reese Jeffrey; great grandchildren: Bo, Beatrice, Brielle and Edward; brothers: Joseph Bovaird (Patricia), Perry Bovaird (Andrea), Michael Bovaird, Tim Bovaird (Pam) and John Bovaird; sisters: Mary-Ellen Webster (late Verne) and Jackie O’Hanley; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her brother Daniel Bovaird; sister Judy Coughlan; sisters-in-law: Gail Bovaird and Marilyn Bovaird; as well as Larry Fiander Andrea and Adams father.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where the visitation will be held on Friday, March 6 from 3 to 6PM. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from Reid’s Chapel and for those unable to attend, can be seen on the livestream from the obituary.
