Obituary of Lloyd McKinley
With immense sadness but gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Lloyd Gordon McKinley, announce his passing at the SJRH on December 29, 2025.
Lloyd was born on December 2, 1935 to the late Gordon and Frances (Ellsworth) McKinley in White’s Cove, N.B. He grew up in Saint John and graduated from Simonds High School. While there he participated in a variety of sports, was grad class president and most importantly, met his future wife Audrey Fletcher.
Lloyd worked his entire career at NBTel, retiring just short of his 60th birthday. Early retirement allowed him to enjoy his many interests and hobbies including travelling the world with Audrey, hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening, wood working and genealogy. He loved summers at the cottage on Grand Lake and winters at the Hampton Curling Club where he served a term as President and once managed to score an 8 ender. Curling was a big part of his life, and he had the honour of representing New Brunswick at the Men’s Senior Curling Nationals on two occasions. Lloyd also volunteered his services at the Hampton United Church where he was a long-standing member.
Above all, Lloyd took great pride in his family and besides his wife of 66 years, Audrey, he is survived by his children, June (Bruce) Jardine, Janet (Mark) Horgan, Carol (Ron) Outerbridge and Paul (Karen) McKinley; grandchildren David (Elizabeth), Christine, Ben (Christy), Natasha (Troy), Danny (Samantha), Ryan (Julia), Joshua (Michelle), Emily and William; great grandchildren Logan, Trey, Mary Ann, Kai, Mielle, Kale, Leah, Karlee, Henry, Oliver and baby boy Horgan arriving in February; sister Joanne Dilts; sister-in-law Mary McKinley; brothers in-law Keith Fletcher and Carl Baxter; brothers and sisters-in-law Roy (Mary) Fletcher and Frances (Dale) McAdam; his cousin Eugene (Jean) McLean and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his parents in-law Roy and Alice Fletcher, his brother Doug and sisters-in-law Ruth Baxter and Shirley Fletcher.
The family would like to thank his primary care giver Dr Cory Dickson and the doctors and nurses at the SJRH who took such incredible care of him during his brief stay there.
