Obituary of Barb Steele-Sicard
It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Morrison Steele-Sicard, affectionately known as “Barbie”, announce her passing which occurred on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at her home in Nauwigewauk, NB. Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Steele and Edith (Gandy) Steele, and the devoted wife of the late Wendell Sicard, whom she loved dearly and cared for faithfully until his passing in August 2022.
Barb was born on May 5, 1954. She lived a life marked by quiet joy, devotion, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She resided in Rothesay as a child prior to moving to Nauwigewauk and became a farmer's daughter. Barb worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia in both Saint John and Halifax before returning home to the beautiful Hammond River, where she and Wendall built their home and shared many happy years together.
She treasured her travels with Wendell to Barbados, a place that held special meaning for them both. Barb found peace and happiness in nature—she loved birds, flowers, reading, music, and time spent near the water, including her time at Shampers Bluff.
Above all, Barb valued time with her family and will be remembered for her gentle spirit, warmth, and enduring love for those closest to her. She also held a special place in her heart for her loving dog, Ziggy, who brought her comfort and companionship. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Barb is survived by her brother Joseph and sister-in-law Joan; niece Tamara (Dave); nephews: Gregory (Hilary) and Michael (Danielle); cherished great-niece Stella; stepdaughters: Lisa Peach (Jon), Erika Sicard (Nenad); and step grandchildren: Lucas, Benjamin, Jackson & Addison. She is also survived by many cousins who held a special place in her life. In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was predeceased by her siblings Joanne, Michael and Mary Jane.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, and will be held privately. Donations in memory of Barb may be made to the SPCA Saint John, the Hammond River Angling Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
