Obituary of George Tays
It is with great sadness that the family of George Albert Tays announce his passing which occurred peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Shannex Embassy Hall, Quispamsis, NB. Born in Passekeag, NB on January 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Lynch) Tays.
George dedicated 36 years to the Saint John Dry Dock. Over time, he became warmly known as “Mr. Hampton Volunteer” for his many years of caring involvement with NB Ambulance, the Hampton Fire Department & Rescue, the Hampton Lions Club, and the Hampton Seniors Resource Centre.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Betty (Cunningham) Tays; children: Cindy Tays of Hampton, NB, Stephen (Fawn) Tays of Nakusp, BC, David (Tanya) Tays of Lakeside, NB, Shaunna Tays of Hampton, NB; grandchildren: Rachel Tays, Creighton Tays (Nox), Andrew Tays (Brandi), Stephen Tays (Kailey), Haley Coleman, Ethan Coleman; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Leonard (Raymonde) Tays; sister Barbara (Aubrey) Brinkman; as well as several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his brother Reginald and sister Ina Davidson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be no public events.
