Obituary of Bruce Tait
With broken hearts, the family announce the passing of Bruce Wayne Tait on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Bruce was born December 19, 1947 in Hampton, NB, the son of the late Ora J and Isabelle (Smith) Tait.
Bruce was a voracious reader (Louis L’Amour was his favourite author), and an avid vegetable gardener. He enjoyed fishing and sitting on the deck on a summer morning with coffee in hand. He always preferred the slower pace, and quieter life, and tried to instill that same love into his children.
Bruce spent a fair amount of time working away from home, as a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, and eventually finding work at the Irving Oil Refinery, where he struck up friendships with most he met.
Bruce is survived by his children: Shawn Tait of Hampton, NB and Melanie Hawthorne (Dennis) of Sussex, NB; brothers: Delbert Tait (Maria) of Hampton, NB and Clifford Tait (Coleen) of Hampton, NB; brother-in-law Jack Tays; grandchildren: Courtney Brown, Jamie-Leigh Tait, Kayla Hachey, Brooke Armstrong, Spencer Hawthorne, Terry Tait; great grandchildren: Julia, Bryson & Bailey and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his daughter Norma-Mae Tait, sister Carol Tays and daughter-in-law Brenda Hachey.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where the visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. There will be no formal funeral service.
