Obituary of Connie Heighton
It is with great sadness, but with gratitude for a life well lived, that the family of Sylvia Constance “Connie” Heighton announces her passing which occurred Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at Shannex – Tucker Hall, Saint John, NB.
Born in Millidgeville, NB on August 14, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George (Ted) and Etta (Boyd) Barr.
Connie loved to travel and spent many weeks with her husband Jim and their friends from the Twin Seas Caravan Club travelling around the Atlantic provinces.
After they retired, Connie and Jim travelled with friends to many places such as Europe, and Western Canada. They spent many winters in Sebring, Florida and always enjoyed their time there.
Connie was a retired OR nurse. She was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Hampton for 61 years and served in the church choir, church guild and the quilting circle both at the church and the resource centre.
After Dad’s passing, Mom moved into the new apartments at Ossekeag Place in Hampton where she built many new friendships and happy memories.
Connie is survived by her children: Kathy Bockus (Walter) of St. Stephen, NB; Mary Beth Heighton of Saint John, NB; Krisan Palmer (Terry) of Saint John, NB and Marilyn Heighton (Brad Worden) of Kingston, NB; four grandchildren – Jacqueline and Jamie Bockus and Jack and Caroline Fitzpatrick; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sister Joan Cannon (Buck) of Dartmouth, NS; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her husband James Heighton; sisters Shirley Green and Marilyn Barr; and brothers Paul Barr and Randy Barr.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church 486 Kennebecasis River Road, Hampton on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, from 12 noon to 2PM, followed by the funeral service at 2PM at the same church.
Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery.
