Obituary of Barb Sherwood

It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Ann Sherwood announce her passing which occurred on Friday, August 15th, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB.  Born in Saint John, NB, on September 24, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Constance (McPhee) Melanson.

Barb and John were faithful members of the Royal Canadian Legion in Hampton. They served together in different ways, including John being a past president. Barb was always there at Bingo, having fun and serving the Seniors. During the monthly breakfast, you would find Barb at the door greeting everyone who came. She was a diligent worker and consistently attended meetings whenever possible.

Barb is survived by her children: Jason Sherwood (Gabrielle) of Hampton, NB, and Christine Barry (Herbert) of Hampton, NB; grandchildren: Isabelle, Emily, Avery and Liam; brother Clifford Melanson of Saint John, NB; sisters: Dale Roberts (Teddy) of Saint John, NB, Phyllis Reid (Kevin) of Saint John, NB, Glenorra Donavon of Saint John, NB and Madeline Peters-Paulin of Saint John, NB; special cousin Dawn Vienneau and sister-in-law Colleen Dugas (Gordon) as well as many extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Barb was predeceased by her loving husband John Sherwood, brother Leo & Marg Melanson, her sisters-in-law: Mary Ellen & Danny Doyle, Diana Naves and brother-in-law David Sherwood.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Hampton, NB. Following the Mass, all are invited to join the family at the Royal Canadian Legion Hampton #28 for the reception. Interment will take place at St Joseph’s Cemetery at a later time.
