To Miss Bella's family: my heart breaks with yours. She saw potential in my attempts at linotype, painting and other mediums. But she shared with me a love for beautiful art that has affected me for life and i spend hours enjoying nature ( the most beautiful art) as well as happy hours lost in art books or art galleries and museums when i can. Thank you for the gift of your sister to us and the impact she had on me as a teacher. I am sorry for the pain you and she must have lived because of communism and the aftermath of WWII. I will always treasure her memory and truly loved her.

Sincere condolences to the family of Ms. Sophia Bella. My husband and I both had the pleasure of her art class at BRHS. She left a lasting impression as we were just talking about her art class a few weeks ago

Dear Miss Bella, you were truly an inspiration!
The courage it took to leave your family and come to a new country in those days was a feat of unwavering strength! I had the pleasure of being another of your BRHS students, graduating in 1981! Your kind and caring ways shone through, sometimes the boys could be a handful!!. Rest in peace sweet lady!

I offer the sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Miss Bella. Sofia was a delight to know and be taught by and her grace to share "duty" with Dad, says so much about her character.

Hello,
Ms. Bella taught my art class in high school at Belleisle. I was there between the years of 1991-95. Her knowledge of art and artists was profound. And her love of nature was infectious. If her students were ever struggling for inspiration in art class; she would simply say, "Look out the window; that's all the inspiration you need".
I am so sorry for your loss. Ms. Bella is strong, perseverant, and caring woman. This world is much better for having her be a part of it.

I wish to give my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ms Sophia Bella. Just two days before she passed I was fixing her step which she had a fall on the few days previous. As I was moving the bricks there was a grey spotted salamander sitting on one of them. I called out to Sophia who was laying down to tell her what I found. She called back to me that she had never seen a salamander before in her life. She appeared in the doorway cane in one hand, cell phone camera in the other she witnessed the beauty of this tiny creature for the first time in her life mesmerized by it. I picked up the brick so she could see it more closely. She observed it and began taking pictures. She was thrilled! For a few moments Sophia Bella the child was in front of me observing, taking in the beauty of nature, and viewing it with the eye of an artist. Curious and inquisitive to the very end. Vita vitalis! A life worthwhile!

Miss Bella was one of my favourite teachers at Belleisle. She instilled the desire for art in me. I would stay after school while she helped me become a confident artist. My condolences to the family.

I taught with Sophie at BRHS from 1986 to her retirement in 1996. She was a kind and gentle soul. I am so happy she had almost 30 years of retirement to create and to contribute here in our community. Deepest condolences to her family in Slovakia and to her many friends here in Hampton. She had a great impact in her lifetime on so many.

My condolences to family and friends... At Belleisle Regional High School, my classroom was next to her "Art" room for a number of years and we became friends. This past year , I started taking art classes in Hampton and there she was, painting. She told me on more than one occasion that she was so very happy to be painting again! I shall remember her fondly!
