Obituary of Aaron Murray
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Aaron Bernard Murray, which occurred on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was a beloved husband, father, friend, and proud community leader. Aaron was born in Minto, NB on March 24, 1973, a son of Mitch and Joan (Lafferty) Murray.
He will live on in the hearts of his wife Christina Campbell; his sons: Colton Murray (Abbie) of Hampton, NB, Tyler Murray of Hampton, NB; brother Trevor (Jen) Murray of Saint John; sister Candace (Shaun) MacLean of Hampton, his best buddy and loyal companion Hank; several very well-loved nieces & nephews. Aaron was predeceased by his son Christopher Saunders.
Aaron was the founder, owner, and master distiller of Ole Foggy Distillery, a dream he brought to life with passion and purpose. Over the past four years, he poured his heart into building Ole Foggy, and was proud to see it grow into a vibrant and welcoming space. Recently, he welcomed new partners from Gridiron Brewing to form a new company—The Porch—further expanding the vision he had worked so hard to create.
Even as he launched Ole Foggy, Aaron worked at Kent Building Supplies, in outside sales, a job he loved for the people it allowed him to meet and connect with, as well as the many friendships it created. Aaron continued to work at Kent until he was no longer physically able to do so, always showing determination and resilience.
Aaron’s contributions extended far beyond business. He is the current Vice President of the Hampton ATV Club, as well as a member of the New Brunswick Craft and Alcohol Producers Association, a former coach with the Hampton Huskies football team, and a devoted volunteer with Little Rocks curling, where both his boys played. He was also a former member of Hampton’s Emergency Measures Organization.
Aaron loved the outdoors—whether he was fishing, hunting (especially moose season at camp), riding the side-by-side, or simply spending time with his crew. Bonfires were a favourite gathering spot, where he enjoyed a pint or two—or sometimes a full 24, laughing and sharing stories late into the night.
Music was another passion—if you knew Aaron, you’ve likely heard him singing along to his favourite tunes, enthusiastically and occasionally on key. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, and his kindness, generosity, and warm, positive nature made a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether you were a lifelong friend or someone he’d just met, Aaron treated you like family. To him, strangers were just friends he hadn’t met yet.
There are no words to fully express the void his passing leaves behind. He will be forever missed by his wife, sons, family, friends, and community who loved and admired him deeply.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Oncology Department at the Saint John Regional Hospital, as well as the palliative care team, nurses, and doctors who provided such compassionate care during Aaron’s final days.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. Donations in memory of Aaron may be made to the Hampton Food Basket, IWK Foundation, the two charities that meant a lot to him.
