Obituary of Heather Scott

We are saddened to announce the passing of our wonderful mother, Heather Mary Scott on Tuesday July 15, 2025, at Shannex – Tucker Hall, Saint John, NB.  Heather was born in Sussex, NB on March 26, 1942; raised in Upham, she was the only daughter of our late grandparents Eldon and Eileen (Campbell) Proctor.

Heather married the love of her life on January 14, 1961 and they were together for over 55 years. She made our Halloween costumes, dealt with our teenage selves with humour, kept us on (or close to) the right path, and looked in on us when we were all grown up whether near or far away. The girl with the best grades in her graduating class, she travelled across the country with us, and throughout North America and the Caribbean with dad. She worked when afforded the time doing everything from selling jewelry and sewing supplies to real estate. No matter where we lived she remained involved in the church whether playing organ or making handicrafts such as hooked rugs or quilting. Mom was the calm secure centre of our lives who kept a cool head and a firm resolve. We were the patches, but she was the quilt, and together we kept each other warm.

Mom is deeply missed and survived by us,her children: daughter Michelle (Shelley) Scott of Barnesville, NB, son John Scott of Vancouver, BC, and daughter Jill alongside husband Leigh Emery of Bayview, NB; as well as many cousins and close friends from Alberta to New Brunswick. In addition to Nana and Grampie, mom was predeceased by our father Bertram Scott; infant son Jeffrey Scott; and our sister Lisa Scott.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Tucker Hall, and most especially Lily Court. Without exception their care of Mom was wonderful. In her final days many tears were shed and hugs exchanged; it touched us deeply that some took time from maternity leave or precious days off to come and say their goodbyes to mom.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th from 4 to 7pm. The funeral service will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 26th, 2025 from St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Upham, NB. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Cemetery.

Donations in the memory of Heather may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Anglican Parish of Upham, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and memorial donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
