Obituary of Medley James Whitney

It is with great sadness that the family of Medley James Whitney announce his passing which occurred on Tuesday, July 15^th, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB.  Born in West Quaco, NB on November 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Medley and Cora (Black) Whitney.

Medley is survived by children: Linda Densmore (George) of St. Martins, NB, Robert Whitney (Tracy) of Sussex, NB, Barbara Whitney of Saint John, NB and Elizabeth Mackie (Brian) of Abbotsford, BC; grandchildren: Maria, Bill (Jennifer), Dan, Nathan, Colleen, Mary, Madison, Carter and Charlotte; as well as many extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Medley was predeceased by his loving wife Marlene Whitney; son Tom Whitney; sisters: Cora McCumber and Maxine Goodine; brother Fenwick Whitney; and half-brothers: Wallace, Herman, Charlie and Buck Mannett.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff and caregivers from Kindred Home Care. Your kindness and compassion shown towards Medley and his family will not be forgotten.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where visitation will be held on Friday, July 18^th from 4 to 7pm. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, July 19^th, 2025 from Reid’s Funeral Home. Donations in the memory of Medley may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
