Obituary of Bill Woods

It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas William “Bill” Woods announce his passing which occurred on Sunday, June 15th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB.  Born in Armstrong’s Corner, Queens County, NB on April 21, 1944, he was the son of the late Thomas William and Mildred (Graham) Woods.

After graduation he was employed at the Bank of Nova Scotia but his love for the land brought him back to Dairy Farming with his Dad and later with his Son, Bob.  He was an active member of his church and community, founding member of the Nauwigewauk Volunteer Fire Department and active on several Dairy committees  He enjoyed country music and loved to dance.  He loved sports, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed travelling, his many trips to Florida and more recently, summers spent at Stonehurst campground with the many friends he made there.  Bill was a kind and gentle man, who loved and cherished time spent with his family.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Woods of Nauwigewauk, NB; children: Bob Woods (Marilyn) of Nauwigewauk, NB, and Brenda Hogan (Peter) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Tom Woods (Allison), Kyle Woods, Emma Woods (Corey), Emily Wilson (Nick), David McGuire (Cait), Duncan McGuire (Emma), Maddie Hogan and Ben Hogan; great grandchildren: Ellie, William, Jack, Scottie, Jaxx, Ryan, Tyler, Myles and Ramona; sisters: Frances Duplisea (Bill) of Sussex, NB, and Betty Johnston of Nauwigewauk, NB; brothers-in-law Fen Sherwood (Ruth) of Nauwigewauk, NB, and Ron Sherwood (Linda) of Otter Lake, NB; good friend Don Johnson; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Bob and Marjorie Sherwood; brother Doug Woods (Norma); brother-in-law Earle Johnston; and great grandson Silas.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), Hampton, NB. A private family interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in the memory of Bill may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
