Obituary of Betty Mott
It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth “Betty” Ruth Marilyn Mott announces her passing which occurred peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre, Hampton, NB. Born on July 1, 1938 in Shannon, NB, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Bevans) Jones.
Betty was a dedicated stay-at-home mother during her children’s early years. After they started school, she earned a local teaching permit and worked with students with special needs, a role in which she was patient, kind, and caring. She was a skilled quilter and seamstress with a creative touch, and she enjoyed making a variety of crafts. In her middle years, she and her husband, Gerald, spent many seasons bowling in a league together, and she also took part in clogging, which she really enjoyed. Through these activities, Betty made many friends. She and Gerald also liked taking regular car rides through their neighborhood, looking for deer. Her faith was an important part of her life and gave her strength in both good times and difficult ones. Gerald passed away nine years ago, and Betty continued to love and miss him every day.
Betty is survived by her children: Wayne Mott (Margaret) of McDonald’s Point, NB, and Lisa Bettle (Mark) of Hampton, NB; grandchildren: Cory Mott (Charlotte), Nikki Mott (Keith), Katie Bettle (Ian) and Michael Bettle (Amanda); great grandchildren: Jacob, Luke, Max, George and Mia; sisters-in-law: Judy Urquhart (Bud), Irene Mott and Millie Jones; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her loving husband Gerald Mott; and sisters - and brothers-in-law: Rowena Mott, Percy Mott, Earl and Frances Mott, and Russell Mott.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where visitation will be held on Monday, May 26th from 12:00 to 2:00PM, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm. A private family interment will be held at Shannon Cemetery, Shannon, NB.
