Obituary of James Murray Ferguson

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James “Jim” Murray Ferguson Jr.  which occurred on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at his home in Hampton, NB. Born in Saint John, NB, on March 6, 1959, he was the son of the late James and Bernadette (Parker) Ferguson.

Jim was a loving Father, Husband, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend.  Always wanting to be outside, loved watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and Stock Car Racing in Geary and Petty.  He loved Dale Earnhardt Sr. and loved working at his job as a mechanic at Canadian Tire for the past 30+ years.  There will always be a special place in his heart for his Softball family, playing for 30+ years as well as umpiring.  If you had Jimmy as a friend, you held a special spot in his heart as well.  He loved fishing, but hated eating them.  He loved having his Grandchildren around and watching them grow and helping them learn.  Loretta is always going to hold him in her heart and he will always be her prince charming.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Loretta Ferguson of Hampton, NB; children: James Ferguson (Jessica) of Hampton, NB and Jonathon Ferguson (Caroline) of Saint John, NB; grandchildren: Hannah, Parker, Charlotte, Amelia, Skylar, Jayde, Alexander and Carleen; brothers: Joseph Ferguson (Casey) of Geary, NB and George Ferguson (Laura) of St. Martins, NB; sisters: Kathleen Cook of Saint John, NB, Mary Savoie (Gordon) of Fredericton, NB and Kelly Hickie (Mike) of Saint John, NB; feline companion Charlie; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his daughter Monique Moore; brothers: Walter and Thomas Ferguson; and sister Margaret Chambers.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the first responders, Dr. Groom, the Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology team as well as the Extra Mural for all their care shown towards Jim and his family. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 4 to 7pm. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the memorial of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
