Obituary of Brad McEwen
It is with broken hearts that the family of Bradley Keven McEwen announce his passing which occurred on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, NB, on May 14, 1994, he was the son of Keven & Sharon Dunlop-McEwen, of Smithtown, NB.
Bradley was a man of many talents. He would pick up a hobby and make it his sole focus and purpose. He was a formidable hockey player, skateboarder, fisherman, and bodybuilder. He was passionate about physical fitness, being outdoors, working on cars and motorcycles and was always up for any type of adventure.
Bradley vocalized how lucky he felt to have such a great childhood, and he cherished those times as some of his favourite memories. From all the crazy adventures at home, to playing with the neighbourhood kids, decorating eggs with his Aunt Reta and learning to golf with his Aunt Donna.
As Bradley got older, he began to struggle with his mental health. His parents were relentless in their efforts to help him over the course of several years and supported him in every way they knew how. Bradley’s cousin Katryna was an important person in his life who saw him in his darkest moments and supported him in ways others didn’t know how.
Bradley had a soft spot for dogs. He rescued his first baby, Cami from the Saint John SPCA. His second love, Lola was his best friend who was rescued from California and was by his side until the end.
Bradley expressed how much he disliked working in trades. He wanted to do something to help people. Bradley is an organ donor and in his family’s sorrow, he is now helping people and bringing other families hope and joy.
Instead of flowers or donations the family is asking people to bring a bag of dog food or treats and fill the room which will later be donated to SPCA.
In addition to his parents, Bradley is survived by his sister Angela McDade and her husband Pete of Saskatoon, SK; aunts: Reta Dunlop-King (Angus) and Donna Dunlop; cousins: Katryna and Samantha Lewcock; as well as many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Bradley was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Hazen & Dorothy (Crabbe) Dunlop, paternal grandparents Howard & Cathy (Alexander) McEwen, uncle Clayton Dunlop, and his cousin Melissa Israel.
