Pat, Mary Ann, Sam, and family.
Don was an active member of the community and Hampton is better because of it.
My father and Don would often talk boats and boating, and Don was always eager to offer advice or assistance should the need arise, and with boats, it often would.
Any time I spoke with Don, he was friendly, helpful, and humorous, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Condolences to his family and friends.

My condolences to Pat and Don's family and friends. My transfer to Hampton RCMP came with an introduction to Aux Cst Don Mckay. Don kept his uniform crisp and volunteered a huge amount of his free time with the RCMP. His local knowledge and incredible sense of humor was a benefit to all of us. Don was a good man and an excellent partner during many police calls. I will always remember his kindness and humor.

Dear Pat and family,
I am sending sincere condolences on the loss of Don, a valued person in the community and a good man. Your dedication to your husband, Pat, and spending your days with him was wonderful to experience through the eyes of someone who worked at the Snow Centre. Seeing you two enjoying the gardens and gathering others around you, validated the purpose of our lovely green space.
Don will not be forgotten.❤️

One of my favorite memories of Mr. Mackay and the Mackay family was on the Belisle Bay. He would take us out in his older fiberglass ski boat with the vintage 1960's Evinrude motor that worked perfectly (He would have it no other way) He was in his Speedo swim suit (he could pull this off :) sitting on the boat chair driving us around a cove smiling and laughing as he gave us all a chance to get up and try waterskiing.
Life lesson: In the late 80's Mr. Mackay ran daily to stay heathy, well one night a young know it all teasing him about his pace heard him say with a knowing smile...well lets see what you are doing when you are fifty. That stuck with me to this day, and he was absolutely right.
He was someone to look up too. He will be missed.
My thoughts to Pat, Mary Ann, Sam and family.

I think he was one of the first Belleislers that went off to university. He stayed with my Aunt Mary in Montreal & he became a loved extended member of the Thomson family. I am sorry we are not able to attend his funeral. Sympathy to ,Pam, & family, Barb & Neville.
