Obituary of Dave Craft
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and Uncle, David “Dave” James Craft which occurred on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, after a lengthy illness with his loving family by his side. Born in Saint John, NB, on June 25, 1945, he was the son of the late William and Catherine (Steele) Craft.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bonita “Bonnie” Craft of Hampton, NB; children: Tanya McCarthy (Danny) of Hampton, NB, Todd Craft (Precious) of Borden, ON, and Korey Craft (Danielle) of Ketch Harbour, NS; grandchildren: Tyler McCarthy (Jen), Nicholas McCarthy (Lexie), and Jessica Forsythe (Jesse) Great Grandchildren Brynlee and Kinslyn McCarthy. Siblings: Betty Delaney, John Craft, George “Butch” Craft (Barb), Gary Craft (Nathalie), Peter Craft (Jackie), Patricia Gallant, Cathy Hosford, Jane Patterson (Rick), and Clarke Craft (Kim); brothers-in-law: Roger Savoie and Jamie Gidney; sisters-in-law: Barb Craft, Vinnie Craft and Jacqueline Gidney; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Dave is predeceased by his brothers: Kenneth and Doug Craft; sister Harriett Savoie; infant brother William; brothers-in-law David Delaney, Mike Hosford and Ron Gallant; and sister-in-law Melodie Craft.
Dave was a dedicated man to his family and community. He served as District Governor for Lions International, he was on the first organizing committee for the first of many safe grads at both KVHS and Hampton High School. He helped form our first Leo’s club here in Hampton and he was the first District Governor to swear in his own mother as a Lion in Canada. His favourite part of being a Lion was providing Christmas dinners and organizing the yearly toy drive.
The family would like to thank the many visitors that Dave received during this time. Also, a sincere thank you to the Extra Mural staff for all their kindness and compassion shown towards Dave and his family. The family also wish to extend a thank you to the Nursing Home Without Walls; Dave enjoyed his time with you all. A special heartfelt thank you to Sam and Del Getson for all your love and support, we love you. Lastly, a sincere thank you to Dr. Julia Wildish as well as Dr. Mobin Ataellahi for their care and attention during this difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where the visitation will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with the funeral service following at 2:00pm.
