It is with great sadness that the family of Kurtis Norman Joseph McGraw announce his death, which occurred on Saturday, March 1st, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB, on October 20,1992, he was a son of Krista (March) Collins and Kirk Collins of Salt Springs, NB, and Stephane McGraw of Argentina.

Kurtis was an outdoorsman.  He loved 4 wheeling, fishing, hunting, or just going for walks in the woods.  He loved spending time at our family camp, and he just loved spending time with family.  But his everything was his two boys, Hunter and Elijah.  His boys were his life.  He loved them with everything in his heart, and spending time with them was the highlight of his life.  They made him want to be a better man, and they gave him the strength to fight as long as he could.  Hunter (little bear) and Eli truly were the biggest gift that God could ever have given him, and he was so proud to be called their Dad.  I hope they hold all of their memories strong and close and always know that their Dad loved them more than they could ever know.

He truly had a heart of gold. He made friends easily and always wanted to reach out a helping hand to those less fortunate.  He didn’t believe in having money or possessions, anything he had he would give to anyone who was in need.  He wanted everyone to understand that money and possessions weren’t important in the world, people were.  He only wanted to love and be loved.

He struggled with addictions and demons in his head for many years, losing several friends and family along the way.  He started fighting those demons over the past few months and trying to earn back trust and friends that he lost, but he was convinced that would never happen and he’d live in isolation forever.  He couldn’t see a future and he thought there was only one way out.  It’s heartbreaking that the only bright light he could see at the end of the tunnel led him to Jesus.

Over the past few months Kurtis found peace in his belief in God and with Jesus, he made peace with the demons in his head, but he wasn’t strong enough to fight them anymore.  His struggle is now over, he has found his eternal heavenly peace.  Someday we’ll meet again, and I look forward to that day, but for now he’ll finally rest in the arms of Jesus, his Papa and his Papa Darrell.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB and will be held privately. A private family interment will take place in the spring at Salt Springs Community Cemetery, Salt Springs, NB. Donations in memory of Kurtis may be made to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
