Obituary of David Nice

David John Nice, 77, of Norton, NB

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, David John Nice, on February 27th, 2025, in Saint John, NB.

A devoted father, grandfather, and man of faith, David’s life was one marked by a deep love for family, faith, and the natural world. As a cowboy at heart, he could have easily been a supporting character in a John Wayne movie or played the Marlboro Man. His love for horses was a constant throughout his life, and he could often be found riding over Dickie Mountain, embracing the beauty of nature and taking time to reflect and connect with God. 

David was a man of unwavering faith who found great joy in the outdoors, but his greatest pride was in the family he built with his beloved wife and sweetheart - Gloria. Together, they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter. 

David is survived by his sons, David (Karen), John (April), Dart (Stacy), and daughters Melody and Naomi (Jim). He was also a proud grandfather to Tiffany, Mariah (Kevin), Isaac, Isaiah (Holly), Jonah, Aaron, Jacob, Teri-Lynn, Ashlynn, Skyler, Paige, Charlie, Gracee, Dimitri, and Nia, as well as great-grandfather to Finn and Hendrix. A brother to Robert (Guelda), Glendon (Joanne), Donald, Jeffery (Laylia), Christopher (Norma), Millicent “Betty” Templeton, Margaret Boyle, and Linda Mallet (Cleo).

David’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a man of integrity, love, and quiet strength, and his legacy will continue through his family and the many lives he touched.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses who cared for David at both the Sussex Health Center and Saint John Regional hospitals. Your kindness, compassion, and dedication meant the world to our family during this difficult time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. Public visitation will take place on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Abundant Life Church (489 Main Street Sussex, NB). The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 2:00pm from the Church. Donations in memory of David can be made to the Abundant Life Church or the donor's choice.
