Obituary of Carol Kilpatrick
With her quick wit and humour still intact, our mother Carol Allison Kilpatrick peacefully and lovingly left us at 4:34pm to go be with Dad….just in time for supper. Her passing occurred on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in Saint John, NB surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Saint John, NB on December 31st, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Muriel (Kirkpatrick) Urquhart.
Carol was a giver. A giver of her time to people and to her community. She spent many hours volunteering at the WI Hall in Upham, the CKRC in Titusville and Silver Falls United Church in Saint John where she was also employed as the church secretary for 10 years. Silver Falls held a special place in her heart as she raised her family within that church and was highly involved with Messengers, Explorers, CGIT and church choir.
If you knew Carol, you knew her wit and humour was undeniable. Not only would she make you smile, she would always find the silver lining in all things and when meeting her she would instantly become your friend. This would explain her long-time sisterhood she held and of course there were a couple extra special friendships. Her childhood friend from the age of 5, Donna Henderson and long-time friend from teenagers, Anne Fowler.
Her Family was her most important priority. The pride and joy she held for her children and grandchildren was endless. You could find her cooking the Sunday dinners in Upham and being the biggest fan of her kids and grandkids' latest adventures. You could always depend on “Mom” and “Grammy” to say yes to anything whether that be shopping adventures, cooking favourite treats, having sleepovers, planning family trips, and sipping on tea while listening and offering guidance. She made every simple adventure turn into a grand event because you were always worth it. Even though her final years were difficult, she never complained about her limited mobility, she would just light up when you walked in the room anxiously awaiting to hear the latest stories. No matter where you were with Carol, it always felt like home.
Carol is survived by her two children: Sandra Miller (Glenn) of Barnesville, NB and Luke Kilpatrick (Roberta) of Upham, NB; grandchildren: Travis Edgett (Lisa), Madeline Quinlan (Sheldon), Lauren Vautour (Garrett Corbett), Molly Kilpatrick (Marcus Vail), Ryan Vautour, and Mya Kilpatrick (Justin Giggey); great-grandson Jace Quinlan. Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband John Kilpatrick.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 4-7PM. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00 am from Reid’s Chapel. Interment will take place in the spring at St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery in Upham.
